In April, 1976, William (Bill)
Hochschild and Kenneth McCrimmon purchased a manufacturing and
fabricating company, known as MEI-Midwest Electrical Insulation.
Prior to partnering up for the purchase of MEI, Bill worked for
Special Electric Company, a sales rep company; MEI was one of the
companies Bill represented and Ken was employed in the production end of
MEI.
With Bill’s electrical engineering background, his vast knowledge of
electrical insulation materials and Ken’s production background, they
organized their combined skills and built a successful fabricating
business - Bilken.
Over the past three decades many changes have occurred; Ken retired, Bilken built a new home and became a “Woman-Owned” entity; some
customers also changed ownerships and locations, and some of our first
customers are no more; NAFTA came into existence and industry demands
have fluctuated with our country’s economy.
Throughout the many and varied changes, Bill has remained a
mainstay in the business. Kay and Bill are dedicated to Bilken’s
commitment to it’s customers.
Bilken Industrial Fabricators, Inc. has been located in beautiful,
Northfield, Minnesota since it’s organization in 1976.
Located just off Highway 3, along the Cannon River, Bilken maintains
its status as an industry leader in the custom fabrication of repair
parts for turbine and hydro generators.
