In April, 1976, William (Bill) Hochschild and Kenneth McCrimmon purchased Midwest Electrical Insulation. Bill held a degree in electrical engineering, had a vast knowledge of the power generation industry and the products they required. Along with Ken’s manufacturing background and Kay Hochschild’s business knowledge, they combined their skills and built a new, successful manufacturing and fabricating business, Bilken Industrial Fabricators, Inc., to service the specific needs of the power generation industry,
During the past 30 plus years Bill, Ken and Kay guided Bilken through many changes. After Ken retired, Bill and Kay purchased land along the Cannon River in Northfield, Minnesota and hired Rechtzigel Construction to build a new home for Bilken. In 2002 they certified Bilken as a “Woman-owned, small business”.
Before Bill passed away in October of 2008, Kay and everyone at Bilken made a promise to him that they would carry on his legacy. Today, though employing fewer than 20 people, Bilken maintains its status as an industry leader. We are ISO compliant and continue to supply custom fabricated electrical insulation to the power generation industry helping them meet the energy demands of today and the exciting challenges of tomorrow.
We thank our customers, current and new, for their confidence in Bilken. Also, we would like our community to know that we appreciate the sustained support they have shown Bilken over the years.
